Bob Ramsey and his wife Jenny Norton have been have been very active business and community leaders for many years. Bob Ramsey has founded companies in a variety of fields: medical, ambulance, air transportation, information systems, marketing and billing services. He has held eleven ambulance CONs (Certificate of Necessity) in Arizona, one of those being Southwest Ambulance, which Bob also founded in 1982. After the ambulance industry in Arizona was deregulated in 1982, Bob led the effort to design a new regulatory plan that would protect the citizens of Arizona while stimulating the growth of a financially viable and more stable ambulance service industry. Bob's strategic EMS designs, implementation and innovations around the needs of service delivery have helped lead the ambulance industry into our modern era.
Today, Bob owns and is Chairman and CEO of StarWest Associates, which is the parent company. Currently Bob's companies hold four CONs in Arizona under the names of American Ambulance, LifeStar EMS Ambulance Service, American ComTrans Ambulance Service, and Professional Medical Transport (PMT).
A nationally recognized leader of innovative emergency medical systems, Ramsey's success can be credited to his ability to provide services that implement new technologies and apply them to the areas of patient care and overall business logic, while focusing on employee and external customer needs and client service delivery alliances.
Bob Ramsey pioneered EMS public/private partnership models presently in operation with various municipalities in Arizona for dedicated 911emergency ambulances services. They include the cities of Peoria, Avondale, Glendale, Tempe, Gilbert, Mesa, Apache Junction, Tolleson and Tucson.
In 1989, Bob was one of the founding members of the Arizona Ambulance Association, a unique organization of rural, urban, public and private ambulance service providers, where he served as President for ten years. Bob is also active in the American Ambulance Association, as well as NAEMS Association.
In 2007 Arizona State University's College of Public Policy named a school The Bob Ramsey Executive Education Program.
